What do we want?
We want Podiatry to be recognised by the public, by fellow healthcare professionals, by policy-makers and commissioners of healthcare as being synonymous with foot health.
We want to lead the development of an international model for podiatric practice.
We want to maintain the viability of the schools of podiatry, so that sufficient podiatrists are trained to meet the foot health needs of the population.
What do we do?
We promote guidelines and standards of practice that are evidence based, ensuring patient safety and clinical effectiveness with a focus on outcomes.
We campaign to raise awareness among the general public and government that good foot health is an essential component of quality of life, that podiatry is a key element of preventative medicine; and we campaign against NHS down -gradings and job cuts, to ensure that essential services are not eroded further.
We influence the governments of the four UK countries, ensuring they understand that podiatry encompasses specialist care, surgery, general practice and public health and that it makes a vital contribution to the health of the population.
Professional Values
We focus on professional values, Practice & Standards; and better communications and enhanced public awareness.
We provide members with guidelines and standards relating to patient care, which must be adhered to, in order to comply with membership requirements.
Our policies are informed with the support of the UK’s most prominent podiatrists, scientists, and researchers and we seek to develop enhanced relationships with suppliers of podiatry products.
